All volunteers must complete the following three easy steps:
- Register and fill out a volunteer form at www.newportayso.com (required each season).
- After registering, volunteers must submit to a background check to check for criminal history (required each season). This screening helps to protect our youth and fellow volunteers. Look for an email from Sterling Volunteers and complete.
- Complete the following three online modules by logging into Sports Connect (www.newportayso.com) with your Volunteer login, go to the Volunteer tab and click on the AYSOU button.
- AYSO's Safe Haven
- CDC: Concussion Course
- AYSO's Summary of the Laws of the Game
To become an AYSO coach:
In addition to completing the three core modules listed above, you must be certified at the age level you are coaching.
Coach training requirements:
- 6U Coach: online 6U Coach Training course
8U Coach: online 8U Coach Training course
10U Coach: online 10U Coach Training module + in-person 10U field companion class (2-3 hours); OR comprehensive 8 hour in-person class
12U coach: online 12U Coaching Training Pre-Course + in-person 12U course
14U coach: online Intermediate Coach Pre-Course + in-person Intermediate Coach class
16U+ coach: online Advanced Coach module + in-person Advanced Coach class
Note, you have to register as a volunteer before you are able to log in and see the AYSOU option within the Volunteer Tab.
