So how do I start this journey today?

Step One:     Register as a volunteer

Step Two:     Complete a background check and perform a Live Scan if/as required by California AB 506 

Step Three:  Complete the four required online training courses

Step Four:    Get role-specific training and get out on the field!

How to Register as a volunteer

1.  Login to www.newportayso.com
2. Click on “Volunteer” in the left side bar.
    
   
   
3. Click on the green “Find Volunteer Roles” button at the top right of the window.
   
   
   
4. Identify the relevant program, such as "Spring Core" on the left, and click on the "View Divisions" button.
   
   
   
5.  Select the division in which you want to volunteer, usually your child's division. If you have multiple players, you can select more than one division.
   
6. Click on “View Selected Opportunities” button to proceed.
   
7. Select the desired role (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Referee, Youth Referee or Team Parent) by clicking on the blue “Select” button, then click on your picture/name. Click the blue “Continue” button.
8. In the new screen, fill out the required fields. Be sure to view and accept all the Waiver forms at the bottom and click the blue “Continue” button.

Complete a background check

Every adult volunteer is required by AYSO to complete a background check through Sterling Volunteers.

Be on the lookout for an separate email from Sterling Volunteers, you will need to create an account with them as well.
After registering via that email, your volunteer account HERE should be active within 24 hours.
If you don't see an email from them, please check your spam folder.

Here is current AYSO Live Scan policy and the text of California AB 506.
The key words here are "regular volunteer" - but it is recommended that every volunteer completes the process.

Check with your DD or RRA to see if they have any Live Scan codes available to help defray any expense.
